Making the decision to start a healthy lifestyle and lose weight is one of the best decisions myself and my wife have made for ourselves.
To be honest, my wife was the one who got the ball rolling, I was just in the way and went against my will.
But truthfully, we both needed to lose weight.
As your body ages, you can begin to understand how your metabolism slows down and it makes it harder for you to lose weight easier like you used to as a young person.
One of the main reasons we were overweight was because of useless overeating.
Looking back, I can see how overeating could have been avoided in our past. If you’re seeing more weight gain in your body, even though you’re exercising and trying to diet, you could be overeating and not even realizing it. Here’s some reasons why you probably are and aren’t seeing the results on the scales.
#1 – The Couch is Your Enemy
One of the main reasons people overeat on a daily basis is because they are plopped down in front of the television to relax and the next morning they see the negative results on the scale.
Television distracts you. In fact, research has suggested you should never eat and watch television because of these things:
- You have a tendency to eat more
- Lowers your metabolic rate
- Eating subsequent meals becomes tempting more often
- You’re more than likely eating unhealthy foods
If you need to relax, take your food to the porch and watch the birds instead of the television. Before you know it two bags of chips and three soda’s are missing from your kitchen.
#2 – Tempting Foods All Around
Another reason people tend to overeat while at home is because they haven’t fully committed to changing their lifestyle. Having Pringles, skittles, and chocolates lying around your kitchen or somewhere easily accessible is tempting to taste and some people can’t resist the urge to “just try one”.Put tempting foods out of sight to prevent snacking and overeating!Click To Tweet
Scientists have suggested to put all of the tempting foods out of sight. You’ve heard of “out of sight, out of mind” before? If you can’t see it, you won’t be tempted to try it. For those of you who have children I understand it’s not totally acceptable to toss everything in the trash because kids are going to want a cookie every now and then, but make sure you keep them in your cabinets away from your prying eyes.
Just make sure you’re not stocking any of these foods in your kitchen.
#3 – You Don’t Drink Enough Water
Your brain will confuse hunger with thirst and you wind up overeating on a meal which could have been taken care of with a simple glass of water.
Make sure you have your water bottle handy and ready to go when you need it. Another great way to substitute this is with the Iaso Tea from our product line which will be mixed with water and can help you detox and get your H2O you need to fill you up.
Make sure you’re drinking at least 8 glasses of water every day to feel fuller and stop overeating.
#4 – The Emotional Rollercoaster
Nine times out of ten, when someone is stressed out, they will eat. Stress raises your cortisol levels to a maximum level which will eventually cause you to be hungry and overeat.
When you stay stressed out all the time, the cortisol levels also stay at a dangerous rate too. When the cortisol levels stay high, you run the risk of becoming overweight because of the eating you feel you need to do to lower your stress level.
#5 – You’re Not Sleeping Enough
Sleep is a great way to lose weight. Especially if you get enough of it.
A 140 lb woman who sleeps 8 hours in one night can burn up to 508 calories while they sleep.
Missing part of your sleep or not sleeping at all will cause your appetite to go overtime and create more intense hunger pains for you to deal with during the day.
Make sure you get a good amount of sleep to ensure an overall healthy state of mind and body and prevent overeating.
These are all pretty simple tips you can manage by yourself very easily.
All you need to do to prevent overeating and to establish your weight loss where you need it to be is to pay attention to what you’re doing throughout the day.
You can do this.
Your healthy lifestyle is like muscle memory. You have to train yourself to do certain things before you end up doing them naturally every day.
